About InnerDC

Peter Vu had a life-long dream to give children the same opportunity he was given as a child, the opportunity to learn music. Thanks to school provided instruments, Peter was able to learn to play the saxophone for most of his childhood musical career free of charge. During today’s tough economic times, budget cuts are suffocating public schools all over the country, limiting vital funding for music programs. Without sufficient funding, public music programs are unable to offer the same luxuries to children like they once did, forcing public schools to cut back on public music programs.

Founded in August 2009, InnerDC is a non-profit organization dedicated to help provide children excellent publicly funded music programs. Rather than fight the budget cut issue, InnerDC instead wants to alleviate it not only through grants, but also by raising community involvement, providing loaner instruments to needy schools, and offsetting costs for uniform cleaning as well as equipment restoration. What sets InnerDC apart from many other similar non-profit organizations is that our fund raising events include the nightlife music industry. Although we love to plan traditional methods of fund raising, we believe our biggest supporters are the the musicians who perform at our local venues and the fans that support them. By organizing our own live music events, we are able to spread our cause and raise funding on a local as well as on a massive scale.

Currently located in the metropolitan D.C. area, InnerDC also looks forward to benefiting music programs in regions outside of our own.
